For many smokers, quitting is associated with fear, stress, and physical reactions. However, these reactions usually stem not from the act of smoking or nicotine itself, but from the mental challenge of breaking a deeply ingrained habit.

Hypnosis focuses on minimizing these challenges by addressing the psychological aspects involved. This is why during smoking cessation with hypnosis, people rarely experience these reactions. Many feel as though two parts of themselves are in conflict: one part wants to quit, while the other resists. The part that wants to quit is the logical side, the part that knows and understands all the negative consequences of smoking.
The resisting part is the unconscious side, which has linked smoking with certain life situations—like relaxation, after a meal, or habitual smoking during social moments. These habits have become closely tied to feelings of comfort and relaxation. In reality, smoking doesn’t provide genuine relaxation; it’s just a brief distraction that’s often mistaken for calmness. During hypnosis, we work together to engage your subconscious mind. We sever these connections and associations, freeing you from the habit and giving you back your freedom. A cigarette is simply some tobacco wrapped in paper—it doesn’t have the power to provide relaxation or any other attributed effects. If you’re considering quitting, turn your thoughts into action. Take charge now and do something beneficial for yourself. Call and book an appointment today. Let hypnosis help you quit smoking once and for all.

When Are You Ready for Smoking Cessation with Hypnosis

Having the right motivation is key when planning to quit smoking. But how can you tell if you’re ready? A simple way to assess your readiness is by asking yourself a straightforward question: On a scale from 0 to 10, how motivated am I to quit, with 0 being no motivation at all? This is a personal scale that may be interpreted differently by each individual, but it gives a good sense of where you stand. If your answer is around 6-7 or higher, you are likely ready. If you answer 10, you may not even need additional help. A score of 5 or below suggests that your motivation might need some work.

How to Motivate Yourself for Quitting Smoking

Start by thinking about your goals: a healthier life, better physical fitness, more energy, enhanced sense of taste and smell, or being a positive role model. You can add more benefits that are relevant to your situation.

Visualize what quitting will bring you. Imagine how you’ll feel once you’ve stopped smoking: more energetic, in a better mood, unburdened, and free.

Focus on the positive aspects of quitting rather than dwelling on how difficult you think it might be. Tell yourself it will be easy. Even if a part of you is skeptical, keep saying it to pave the way forward.

The key is to focus on the goal and the positives, rather than what you want to escape from.

Internal and External Motivation for Quitting Smoking

Where does your motivation come from? Is it influenced by external factors, such as pressure from your surroundings, your workplace, or those close to you? Many smokers notice that smoking has become less socially acceptable, and this external pressure can be a catalyst for quitting.

Internal motivation, on the other hand, may arise from a personal desire to be healthier, live longer, feel better, and avoid smoking-related diseases.

A decision to quit smoking can be entirely your own choice.

When you quit, it’s also important not to become preachy towards others. The best way to inspire others is to be a positive role model, showing that quitting smoking is a choice anyone can make.

A Monkey After Nuts

Once upon a time, there was a little monkey, and this monkey was known for his obsessive focus on nuts. He absolutely loved them! And as time passed, he spent so much time and energy on acquiring and eating nuts, and thinking about them all the time. Anyway, one day he was out searching the forest, looking for delicious nuts. But what he didn’t know was that a particular hunter had been observing him. He was so preoccupied with getting nuts that he hadn’t even been aware that he was being watched. This particular day, the hunter had laid a trap with which to catch the little monkey. He’d placed the most delicious, juicy-looking nut inside a narrow-necked glass bottle. And of course, the monkey barely noticed the bottle as he plunged his paw into the glass object and grabbed the nut, making a fist. And now, when he tried to remove his paw, he found that he couldn’t! Not whilst he still had the nut clasped tightly. So in order to escape the hunter, he had to let go of the nut, but he found himself being unable to do so, because he was still so focussed on getting what he thought he wanted. And he was still wondering how to eat this nut when the hunter arrived and caught him.

This seemingly simple story clearly illustrates some important aspects of how a habit or addiction can trap one’s attention, making it harder to see beyond it. A habit is about the expectation of something you think and believe you will get, and fulfilling this expectation locks your attention.
But take heart—there is a way out! 🙂
